2011 draws to an end....

...and what will 2012 beckon? What's this gamer's resolutions for 2012?
Well firstly I hope the year which draws to a close has been kind to you - gratefully it has very much so to me.
In terms of hobby projects this is what I'd like to see done by this time next year
- Boardgames: Dwarf King's Hold, Mansions of Terror, HeroQuest and Advanced HeroQuest boardgames painted and played to completion
- Blitzkrieg Commander Soviets and Germans painted and based to 5,000pt each
- Finish the remaining four of my seven 15mm sci-fi armies
- Buy and paint an American Civil War army in 10mm
- Buy and paint a 28mm fantasy army - Mantic's releases look very promising indeed but I've always also had a soft spot for Warhammer Skaven...so who knows!
- Complete a few more gangs of generic 28mm sci-fi figures for Necromunda using Tomorrow's War rule
- Get at least two gangs of pirates for Cutlass! done and play the game
- Organize a Warmaster Tournament
- Keep up my weekly  gaming sessions with friends and introduce roleplaying (Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay would be the preferred option) into our meetings

All in all it seems an achievable schedule, but like all gamers I've VERY easily distracted. Last year my resolution however was not to buy anymore figures til the ones I had were done...and seeing how that went - not well! - this year I've decided to go with the Dalai Lama's own "stick with what you know".
I find researching,  exploring, compulsively acquiring, painting and gaming with miniature toy soldiers is just what I do and there's no point trying to control it, I feel. I love it, it harms no one (except maybe my bank account!) and gives me great pleasure. So this year I'm going to opt on guiding my raging lead addiction rather than containing it with unrealistic expectations. That, and I'm turning 30 this year.
Maybe, who knows, after 30 years on the planet in my company I'm starting to understand a little about myself.

Here's hoping your dice roll 6s and your New Year welcomes nothing you can't handle.
Hakunamatata for 2012!
Steven
